NATIONAL AREA TEAM COMPETITION
The competition was held at Wales and the West show on Saturday the 18th of July. Our Area entered two teams which consisted of:
TEAM 1
Alice Viles 1m section -                 0, 0
Meg Norris - 1.10 section              22, 0
Austen Lewis - 1.20 section            4, 0
Philip Griffiths - 1.25 section            0, 0
TEAM 2
Elin Jenkins - 1m section                 0, 4
Rhiannon Coleman - 1.1. section      0, 0
Charles Morgan - 1.20 section          0, 4
Bethan Evans -  1. 25 section           0, 20

This was a very exciting event which consisted of 10 teams from various Areas. The first two teams qualified for the National team finals at Scope.Following the team parade, our Team 2 was announced as winner of the best turned out team. Well done to them for their hard work with each winning £25 each.
The format of the competition was that all the riders in the team jumped twice in their section and after 4 rounds, one score from each four rounds could be dropped.
After an exciting first round, Team 2 were equal in the lead on 0 faults with Area 35, whilst team 1 were in equal third place with two other Areas. It was all on the second round.
After the second round, Area 35 finished on 0 points and were the outright winners. Our Team 1 was equal with four other teams. The member of the 1.25 section in each team had to jump off against the clock for the remaining places.
Philip Griffiths under the guidance of Andrew Davies did an absolutely fantastic jump off over a very strong course and against strong opposition went clear in a very fast time. The team was very unlucky to miss out on qualification by 2 10ths of a second and ended up in 3rd place. Very well done to them and each came away with £50 each. Also well done to Team 2 who came 7th overall.
